Little Update

4:39am. Ben's alarm is on the 3rd snooze. I'm on my 4th tv show and feeling like a zombie. Ahhh, pregnancy is so glamorous! But totally worth it.

I think I have finally kicked my cold and caught up on rest from my busy weekend in GA last week. Before I even woke up to get ready for my flight I had a whole inbox of texts from Ben: It's cold out, take a sweater; Pack snacks for the airplane; Take care of my Princess; I already miss my girls. He is so sweet! Gonna be the best Daddy ever :)

I went for my oldest & best friend's wedding and it was absolutely gorgeous, by far the coolest wedding I've been to. It was at Mountain Cove Farms just outside of our hometown. Until recently, I had no idea this venue existed - it couldn't have been more perfect for a country girl's wedding.

She rode in an old blue Ford truck for
her grand entrance, so cute!

The barn at night, all the surrounding scenery is
farmland & the mountain

So much fun! There are such a perfect couple. I'm so happy Elsie Anne and I could be there. Oh ya, we decided on giving her the "E," let the monogramming begin! :)

This was taken at the rehearsal. 17weeks 3days.

I can't believe how big my belly is!!! I have been trying very hard to have a healthy pregnancy, and after talking about some of my concerns with the Dr I felt a lot better. Then....I fly to GA. Everyone I talk to: "Oh, you're definitely having twins," or "Aww, how cute, you're what? 7? 8? months?" or "Bless your heart, you must be ready to pop any day now."
haha. not funny.

So I start to worry all over again and then Ben reminds me that a good friend of ours was born a huge baby, like 10lbs, and he said "see, it's totally ok...she was huge and now she's one of the top 5 most gorgeous girls I've ever seen in my life." haha. Now I feel better again! Ben is so good at making me feel better. Thank you D for being a big baby!

As of my 16wk appt I was 2lbs less than I was pre-pregnancy, but I know baby girl is growing like crazy! I have been feeling her little kicks for a few weeks now and it is the coolest thing ever. It's usually when I'm lying down at night or after I've eaten. It's like she's giving me little kicks to let me know I've eaten too much and she doesn't have any room to play! Silly girl.

Ben and I have so much to look forward to next week! We are really excited for my 20wk appointment (anatomy ultrasound). Even though we already know it's a girl, I can't wait to see everything again. I still can't get over seeing her teeny ribs and spine, so crazy! We only have 45 minutes for the ultrasound until the 2nd appt that's with the OB. I just don't think 45 min is enough time for me to get enough of seeing her!

Also next week: VEGAS!!! We are going for the wedding of Ben's brother and fiance. A lot of our friends are coming, and of course most of Ben's side of the family. We're so excited to see everyone! We can't wait!
til next time,

Little Baby Wood

I really wanted to start this around week 10 of my pregnancy when we finally told everyone - but Little Baby Wood (LBW, as Ben and I have been saying for the past 7 weeks) had other plans. LBW's plans were for me to never.ever.ever sleep and be so exhausted I couldn't lift my head off the pillow. But, I'm feeling much better now, and it's the perfect time for my first blog post, because last Friday we found out: IT'S A GIRL!!

We weren't supposed to find out until October 4th, but my 16 wk appt was on Friday. I have been absolutely dying to see the baby (I had an early ultrasound at 9 wks but that was it). For some reason I felt like the only way to know everything was ok is to see an ultrasound. I asked at 12 wks and they said no -long story. So, I spend most of Friday morning crying at the thought of not getting to see the baby and ended up giving myself a migraine. awesome. I took Ben with me bc I was fully prepared to cry and pitch an absolute fit if need be. :) I knew someone would need to be a grown-up in the Dr's office, and if they said no again it totally wasn't going to be me.

Because I haven't been feeling well (no big deal, just turns out pregnancy isn't comfortable, who knew?) they ordered an US to check me and the baby. I was beyond excited and couldn't get to the lab fast enough. I asked the tech if she could just look while she was already checking everything else, and LBW was moving like crazy!! I wanted to be able to see the baby swimming around, so before the appt I drank a coke. It worked! LBW definitely gave us a good show. It was hard for the tech to tell so she checked everything else first. Head, heart, kidneys, my favorite part was seeing the spine and ribs. She looked like a little fish! Finally, at the very end the tech agreed to check again -she finally had a good view and before she even zoomed in I could see plain as day, GIRL!!!!

Funny - ever since I saw her sweet face, I have been sleeping like a baby. :)

Ben and I are beyond excited!! Ben's Mom and I have been shopping and saving receipts for a while. This little girl already has half a closet full of the cutest things ever. I absolutely cannot wait to watch my husband melt for this little girl. Last night we spent a little while just sitting in her room in the middle of her huge piles of clothes, just talking about how excited we are.

We have decided on Elsie Ann for her name, though we haven't decided on the spelling of Ann. Elsie Ann, Elsie Anne....not sure. Mine is legally "Ann." But, f you know me decently well you probably know the "Anne, Anne with an E" debacle that 4 year old me created after seeing Anne of Green Gables. I have no idea what I was doing watching that. anyway.

Later I'll write more about how we found out, and told everyone, etc...

For now, a picture of my sweet baby! I can't wait for her to get here!!
